The terms and conditions are: Definitions 'Cardholder', 'You' means the person authorised by MMU to use a met card. 'MMU', 'we' means Manchester Metropolitan University. 'met card' means the card provided to you that allows the storage of funds and the use of those funds for purchases within MMU and at selected merchants. 'Student Support Package' means any of the student support t package provided by MMU to selected MMU students. 1. You are responsible for keeping your met card safe and we suggest that you treat the met card in the same way that you would treat cash. If it is lost or stolen, you may lose some or all of the money on the met card, in the same way as if you lost cash in your wallet or purse. You must therefore keep your met card safe and not let anyone else use it. 2. Funds can be added to the met card up to a maximum value of £5,000. 3. You can use your met card for a range of goods and services within MMU, and at other selected merchants. The list may change from time to time and the current list of participating outlets and eligible items can be found at www.mmu.ac.uk/metcard You cannot use your met card outside of these selected outlets. You may also use any of your MMU student support packages towards your tuition and/or MMU accommodation fees, these options can be discussed at any Finance Service Centre. 4. Certain items cannot be purchased using your met card e.g. book tokens, gift vouchers, stamps, alcohol, tobacco products, purchases from the Starbucks franchise within Blackwell’s, food/ drink at Sugden and Aquatics Centre. Again, MMU reserves the right to amend this list and to include additional terms (e.g. maximum transaction value) in respect of par ticular purchases or met card merchants. These will be notified to you pre-purchase. The list is of purchasable items and terms are set out at: www.mmu.ac.uk/metcard 5. The met card can only be used for purchases that are equivalent to or less than the value of the available funds in your met card account. 6. There is no minimum spend on the met card. 7. Met cards and card balances are not transferable. Card balances cannot be exchanged for cash. 8. For any purchase made with the met card, you may be asked for additional ID (e.g. MMU student or staff ID card) so please be prepared to show this ID. 9. These met card terms apply in addition to the usual terms and conditions for purchase you are making. If you have any concerns or complaints regarding a purchase that you have made using the met card, you should contact the retailer. 10. Only you can make purchases using your met card. You must not allow anyone else to use your met card. 11. You must not use the met card to pay for goods and/or services for anyone else e.g. MMU accommodation, field trips etc. 12. If your met card is lost or stolen you must ensure it is deactivated immediately to ensure that any balance on the card is protected, and as you may have to pay for any purchases made before the card is deactivated. You can deactivate the card online at any time at www.mmu.ac.uk/metcard or (if the loss occurs during University opening hours), at a Finance Service Centre. 13. MMU will not pay for any purchases made with the met card before it is deactivated. 14. Replacements for damaged, lost or stolen cards can be obtained from a Finance Service Centre. 15. The system records all transactions on your met card account. If a new card has to be issued the balance from your old card will be transferred onto it. 16. You can check your balance and transaction history at any time at www.mmu.ac.uk/metcard or at any Finance Service Centre. If you are concerned with any transaction on your account, you should raise this immediately with your Finance Service Centre. 17. Credit on your met card will be used up in a particular order. Credit given from University funds, in the case of students, will be spent before any top-up monies which have been added. 18. Any unspent balance will remain on your met card for use in the next academic year. 19. When you leave MMU, any unspent balance on your met card will be treated in the following way: First, any balance will be applied against any unpaid debt to MMU; The treatment of any balance which then remains depends on the source of that balance. If the balance consists of top up monies which have been added on your behalf, you can apply for them to be refunded to you. In the case of students, if the balance comes from University funds added as any of the MMU Student Support Packages, the balance will first be applied against your tuition fee loan (if you have one and it is still outstanding with MMU). You can apply for any surplus to be paid to you. Note: If the top up related to Art and Design class materials or any other MMU top up other than any of the Student Support Packages, you will not be able to get a refund of any unspent amounts on leaving MMU. Refunds are subject to MMU’s refund policy which can be found athttps://www.mmu.ac.uk/about-us/professional-services/finance-and-procurement/refunds  MMU reserves the right to deactivate your met card in some circumstances. We will contact you if we have to do this. 21. If you are a student and awarded any of the MMU Student Suppor t Packages and it is subsequently discovered that you were not eligible for the Package, your entitlement will be reversed. You will be required to repay any funds that you have already spent. 22. Misuse of the met card may result in withdrawal of your met card, and may result in disciplinary action being taken by the University. Any fraudulent or criminal activity will be repor ted to the police. 23. We may change the met card scheme (or these terms) at any time and we will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any such changes. 24. These terms and conditions are made under English law. 25.
